Co-Host
I spend my days watching people discover they’re more capable than they think, usually while coaxing something beautiful out of a piece of wood. There’s this moment when a student goes from hiding tears over a task to trusting their own hands—witnessing people surprise themselves never gets old.
When I’m not in the workshop, I’m probably defending the 1978 film “Circle of Iron” to anyone who’ll listen. Yes, it’s campy. Yes, it’s also brilliant allegory for those with eyes to see it. Sometimes the most profound things come wrapped in the most ridiculous packages.
I believe there’s always time for connection and abstract thinking, even when there are deadlines looming. Maybe especially then. The academic world loves its grades and timelines, but I’m more interested in what happens when we slow down enough to let personal vision actually unfold. Inspiration shows up from the strangest places if you’re paying attention.
